Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Rice University Space Science and Technology Building
Details:

Addressing Science and Technology Standards through On-Line Games

There is growing evidence that online games are an effective way to promote inquiry learning and to expose students to higher-level thinking.  Games can provide a context for applying concepts that may otherwise seem irrelevant to students.  At the same time, games address technology integration into the science classroom.  Even more unique is the role games can play in promoting an awareness of STEM careers.  In this workshop, speakers will address the educational aspects of on-line science games that are aligned with the Science Standards and participants will play a selection of science games to have personal experiences with the world of games.

“I think [N-Squad] is a TOTALLY cool game. I like how it makes you think, and you are learning things at the same time! I like learning new things about alcohol, it is so much fun playing your game!!!” — Student
